Seat has revealed this sketch of the forthcoming Ibiza ST (sports tourer), following the announcement earlier this week of its plans for an estate version of the supermini.
The sketch clearly shows the car’s curving roofline and raked rear window and confirms Seat’s assertion that the Ibiza ST will be “a good-looking car that people want to own”. The forthcoming Ibiza ST will be a direct rival for the Peugeot 207 SW, Skoda Fabia estate and Renault Clio Sports Tourer.
The engine range is yet to be finalised, but expect a newly developed 4 cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine 105bhp turbocharged TSI to be available as well as a diesel Ecomotive version.
The rear lights also appear to echo the larger Exeo ST. The Ibiza ST is due on sale in 2010 with prices being competitive with sister, Skoda Fabia estate. At this time, we expect the regular Ibiza to be revised.
In related news, Seat will unveil a production version of the Bocanegra concept based on the Ibiza Cupra at the Barcelona motorshow this May.
Inspired by the Seat Bocanegra concept from the 2008 Geneva show, the Ibiza Bocanegra will be based on the new 178bhp 1.4 TSI Cupra model but will add the striking black grille that dominated the concept car. Seat has yet to confirm whether the production car – essentially a styling pack – will retain the Bocanegra name, or whether there will be any other elements to the style pack other than the solid black nose, but expect sales to begin later this year after the regular Ibiza Cupra goes into production this July.
