The new Grand Cherokee will come with Chrysler's new 'Phoenix' engine, a 3.3 or 3.5-litre V6 and a diesel for Europe. It will be engineered to accommodate a hybrid powertrain, to follow later. This efficient yet powerful V6 will replace the thirsty V8 petrol engine currently offered. Chrysler has this week announced a $1.8 billion investment on new-vehicle programmes and on updating its Jefferson North Assembly plant in Detroit, where the new Grand Cherokee will be built.
