How to start a revolution? Usually not go to plan in advance. A revolution occurs because somebody gets a brilliant idea and develops it. Something similar happened to the German student Anne FÖRSCHNER, studying at the Pforzheim University in Bretten, Germany. They designed a concept car for BMW, called the BMW Lovos, the way we look at cars, car design and build cars completely changed.
The Lovos BMW, which stands for Lifestyles of Voluntary Simplicity, is more an art project than a design project, so it seems at first sight. The skin of the vehicle consists of 260 identical metal plates, which are pasted on the frame scales. These so called Photovoltaic cells are more than just design a special trick. They can act as brakes by the drag of the car to increase or energy by absorbing sunlight.
Because use is made of 260 identical metal plates, the car is cheaper in design. Also the car is economical, thanks to the versatility of the metal plates. Apart from that the car is a very dynamic appearance, because the images often quite flat and sometimes stand up like prickles. The BMW Lovos gives Anne FÖRSCHNER us a glimpse into the future of the car.
