On May 11, 2010 is a historic day for Audi: Today begins the production of the A1 car that carries the most commercial expectations the automaker from Ingolstadt. "The A1 will have key role to help us, once again, to overcome the historic milestone of one million units sold globally in 2010 also," said Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of the mark. The compact will leave the Audi plant in Belgium with four engine options: 1.2 and 1.4 to 86 hp to 122 hp, both with gasoline direct injection, and two 1.6-liter diesel with 90 hp and 105 hp. The exchange of A1 is the S Tronic automatic, dual-clutch seven-speed.
Audi expects to sell 100,000 units per year of A1 that, starting from € 18,000 in Germany, will have as main rivals Mini Cooper, Fiat 500 and Citroen DS3. The new Audi's compact premium is 3.95 m long, 1.74 m wide, 1.42 m high and 2.47 m wheelbase. For its production, the Belgian factory received € 300 million in investments. That same plan now goes out the A3 Sportback.
